Lunch in the Unique Atmosphere of the Ironworks

The first destination of our food tour is Kauttua Ironworks in Eurajoki. Our day of delightful experiences begins at the Kauttua Ironworks Manor. The kitchen emphasizes seasonal ingredients, and the chef’s classics are deservedly renowned. The summer terrace and charming cellar bar invite groups to enjoy the evening, and those who wish can explore the sights and shops in the Ironworks Park. On the next visit, we could consider an overnight stay and a guided tour of Alvar Aalto’s terraced house and a riverside sauna.

Destination 2

Coffee at Leineperi Ironworks

Our next stop is in Ulvila, where we will explore a different type of ironworks environment. Fresh doughnuts and coffee will be enjoyed in the charming bakery of the ironworks workers’ quarters, dating back to the 1850s. I recommend you set aside some time for shopping at the jewelry, art, and craft workshops—there’s plenty to choose from!

Destination 3

Dinner at a Rôtisseurs Restaurant

We will conclude this food tour with dinner at Ahlström’s impressive ironworks in Noormarkku. The Noormarkku Klubi Restaurant, which has earned the Rotisseur plaque, upholds high standards in food, ingredients, and service. I plan to select the 100th anniversary menu from the Club’s offerings for our group. The main course features venison fillet in red wine sauce from their own estate, and for dessert, green pepper strawberries with ice cream! The beverages will be chosen by the chef—definitely a menu worth trying! The entire ironworks manor setting offers the best of history, culture, and art, adding to a true culinary experience. I might even suggest an overnight stay at the manor’s surroundings, with more to explore the following day.

The tour can also be effectively done in reverse: from Noormarkku via Ulvila to Eurajoki. And visiting the ironworks in a single day is also a great idea!
