Destination 1
Taste the Forest
The first destination is a bit hidden but definitely worth a visit. In Jämijärvi, near the border of Satakunta and Pirkanmaa, you’ll find the tourism services company Korsuretket. In the summer, you can stop by for a coffee, and starting from mid-June, they offer local food burgers on Thursday evenings! BRGR…
This is a great place to visit with a group of friends; even for groups of 10 or more, you can order inventive dishes prepared by a chef specializing in local and organic ingredients. How about trying ‘Early Bird Breakfast’ or ‘Forest Guardian’s Best Bits’? These delicacies are not only a treat for the taste buds but also a feast for the eyes—the forest and the natural setting are captivating and will inspire you even at home. This place is definitely a memorable spot for celebrations. As an extra tip, don’t miss the relaxing Kamala Luonto trail and hammock naps!

Destination 2
Meaty Delights in Jämijärvi
After getting a taste for local food at Korsuretket, I return to Jämijärvi. I drop by the industrial area to visit the Jämin Rahtipalvi store. As souvenirs, you should definitely pick up sausages and grill steaks made from Finnish meat. These delicacies are available on weekdays, and on Fridays, you can also find local baked goods for sale!

Destination 3
Delight in Wines
It only takes fifteen minutes from Kankaanpää to the lively village of Venesjärvi. I drive to the Meggala Wine Estate, which in early summer is enchanting with its cherry and apple trees. Throughout the year, you can enjoy the estate’s wines, ciders, and juices, as well as beers from nearby breweries. It was definitely worth the detour, and I left with various summer treats and flavor memories from the local food store! Kudos to Meggala and Satakunta!
Tip: You can book a tour of the wine estate even for a small group. You rarely hear about how beverages are crafted by hand, which is the specialty of Heikki, one of the co-hosts of the estate. The other co-host, Sofia, will introduce you to the drinks and the history of the estate in her vibrant and engaging style. In addition to wine tastings, you can also book meals. I bet groups will leave here with smiles on their faces.
At the end of the tour, I must admit that this culinary route took me to places I will remember for a long time. Now, I’m off to explore highlights for the next trip!
